Dog Tales: The Adventures of Smyles, (copyright 2006, Ames Public Library) is my first book of this kind, written for Ames Public Library.

It's shown here with a Smyles plush toy tie-in.

I'd love to write a book for your library or other organization.  Contact me for details!

  • Blogs

    Read my ADHD parenting blog:

"My Picture-Perfect Family" to find out how I'm coping with life in the parenting fast lane!

Watch for three or so new entries each week.

  • Book Reviews & Author Interviews/Profiles

I've been reviewing books for Adoptive Families and ADDitude  magazines for more than six years.  I've enjoyed interviewing several authors in the course of my work.

You'll find links to some of my published reviews on my blog Reader.Writer.Reader.Writer.Reader Writer.

I'm interested in more book review and/or author profile/interview assignments. Please contact me for more information.

  • Print Articles & Web Content

I write frequently for ADDitude magazine, including features, columns, and first person profiles.

Writers are often advised to write about what they know; what they're passionate about.  Here are some topics I like to write about:

    • parenting, parenting special needs kids
    • coping with life for moms, women
    • ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, special needs
    • adoption, adoptive parenting, international adoption
    • books (fiction, non-fiction, for all ages), reading, libraries
    • writing

...or any combination of the above!

Of course, I'll consider assignments related to any topic!  Please contact me for more information.

  • Speaking Engagements

I would love to speak to ADHD support groups or special needs adoption support groups.

Please contact me for more information.

Author visits

Unlike most picture book authors,  I had the unique experience of working directly with both the illustrator and designer of Dog Tales.

I was even able to observe part of the printing process, and take photos!

I share those experiences when I present to schools or other groups.

Interested in hosting an author visit?  Please contact me for more information!
