Presentations to Groups
I would love to speak at libraries, support groups, bookstores...anywhere folks can benefit from learning more about what it's really like to raise kids with ADHD or other "alphabet soup" diagnoses. My typical presentation is designed for an audience primarily made up of parents. It's titled "Meet Eve: Everyparent of an Easy to Love but Hard to Raise Child." Eve is the first and only construct to represent the special needs parenting experience, from the time our kids are infants, through young adulthood. In this talk, I'll outline the four distinct stages of special needs parenting, and introduce several feelings and experiences that are common to each stage. Listeners will learn how Eve came into being, why she's important, and how she can be used to support parents who are raising challenging children.

  • Although I will read passages from the book during this talk, most of the material is value-added; it does not appear in the book.
  • I can vary the length of the presentation from 20 minutes to 90 minutes (and anything in between) to fit each audience's individual needs.
  • My presentation can be adjusted for audiences other than parents; such as educators, mental health professionals, college students, or those interested in writing and publishing.
  • I usually do not charge a fee for speaking, but depending on the circumstances, I may ask for help covering travel expenses. If possible, I would like the opportunity to sell and sign books at the event, but this is not imperative.

Conferences
I'm actively seeking opportunities to speak at conferences, on the topic described above. This is a more formal presentation, and utilizes the results of a survey designed to measure the archtetype Eve's authenticity when compared to actual parents. Please contact me to see a detailed abstract and my complete resume.

Other...

  • Traditional author visits, readings, book signing events
  • Allow me to custom-design a presentation to suit your needs.
